Frequently Asked Questions - LPI Membership

The League of Paranormal Investigators answered a couple of frequently asked questions about becoming a member. We advise to read those first to get a better understanding of the procedures and what to expect. To request becoming a member, you can fill out our online application.

Question: I am invited for an interview. Can I re-schedule for another night?
Answer: The way we work is by setting up a meeting with a maximum of four candidate members at a predefined date. This date is based on the availability of the Board of Directors of the League of Paranormal Investigators. Each potential member will get an interview appointment based on a first come first serve basis and the special skills you will bring into the organization. If you cannot make your appointment time or need to cancel, your slot will be given to the next applicant and you will have to wait until the following set of interviews which are tentatively scheduled once a month. The same rule applies if you arrive late to your interview.

Question:  I cannot make it to the interview but will wait until the next round. Do I need to take any action?
Answer: Yes, within the League of Paranormal Investigators, communication is very important. Not reacting to our e-mails is an indication for us that you might be not interested anymore. In that case, your application will be removed from the waiting list.

Question: I filled out my online application and have not heard from LPI anymore?
Answer: After filling out an online application you will receive a confirmation e-mail. After passing a criminal background check the Board of Directors will decide who will be invited to then next round of interviews. In some cases this e-mail cannot be delivered because the specified e-mail address is incorrect, caught by a spam filter, inactive or the mailbox is full this will lead to the removal of your application from the waiting list.

Question: I am still in school, is it the right time to apply?
Answer: From previous experiences with students, we from the League of Paranormal Investigators suggest that you first concentrate on your studies and finish your courses. Becoming a member of the League of Paranormal Investigators means that we can expect a certain commitment level which might interfere with your school. The League of Paranormal Investigators is still growing and will still have a need for new members in the future.

Question: I am working odd hours such at frequent nightshifts and weekends, will this work out with LPI?
Answer: We have monthly meetings that you must attend because they contain important information and training that you need to keep up with. In the case where your work schedule is out of the norm you might not be available for these events as well as investigations. We are looking for members that will be available on nights and weekends and can travel.

Question: My spouse does not like me joining your team what shall I do?
Answer: Do not join if your relationship is not stable enough or when you may create some relationship turmoil in your life.

Question: What is the minimal age to become a member?
Answer: The minimal age to become an active member of the League of Paranormal Investigators is 18 years.

Question: I do not agree to all LPI rules can I still become a member?
Answer: No.

Question: I am only interested in investigations. Can I still apply?
Answer: We require from all of our members to help with the different tasks within our organization. If you are only interested in the so-called "fun part" than we do not think you will be a good fit for our team.

Question: Do I get paid when I becoming a member?
Answer: Each member within the League of Paranormal Investigators is a volunteer and does not get paid for the work they are doing. Like most voluntary jobs, we do ask a certain level of commitment with analyzing the evidence and public events.

Question: I am not sure what to expect from the paranormal. Shall I apply to find this out?
Answer: Joining a group like the League of Paranormal Investigators might be a good way to get more experience within the paranormal field. We do ask from our members to realize that sometimes you might encounter situations which might frighten you, as we work mostly in the dark.

We do look also for volunteers who can help us out with running the League of Paranormal Investigators; such as performing background research for the Research Director.
